Dave Yetton moved on from the Jean Paul Satre Experience and eventually found himself on a bus - The Stereo Bus.
After a debut album aided by Alan Gregg and Ross Burge (Muttonbirds) and other ex JPSE and Sneaky Feelings alumni the follow up over a year later found a different crew but essentially the same fuel running the bus.
The opening bars of Hey Thank You with it's jangly Flying Nun sound are filled out by the conductors, with new additions Dave Hunt and Jason Fa'afoi neatly weaving a sound around Yetton's vocal. Their sound is reminiscent of JPSE on Pretty Boys + Girls.
Birthday is pure pop layered with a good solid beat and again filled out by great melodies and with production by former member Gregg it's easy to hear everybody playing their part.
The remainder of the album mixes up guitar pop with a distinctly New Zealand sound nurtured through Flying Nun during the late 90's when this was released. If you are a fan of Straitjacket Fits or JPSE then The Stereo Bus should fit nicely alongside them in your music collection.
